Since when is a black full-face helmet un-cool? “(I didn’t know how un-cool that helmet was at the time).”
I ride a cruiser and from what I’ve noticed most people riding a cruiser wear a 1/2 or 3/4 helmet. Personally, it reminds me of Eric Estrada / CHIP. Not my cup of tea…
In addition these 1/2 or 3/4 helmets offer less weather protection, less noise protection and most importantly, less over all safety protection than a full face helmet.
I would agree that it may offer more of a “oneness” with the elements, and on a nice summer day it may feel more refreshing (at low speeds). But IF or WHEN you take a dive…I like my face where it is.
I wear a black full-face flip up helmet, and I know it looks cool.
Thanks
My 2 cents

Was the bike damaged? – Expensive repair?

No, no repair, no damage to the motorcycle, just to my ego!
